History

Daniela was born on August 9, 1972, in Cutral Co, in a family and social environment marked by discrimination against her gender identity. During her childhood and adolescence, she experienced harassment, bullying, ridicule, and hostility from those around her. At the age of 12, she left home because her family did not accept her identity as a trans girl. For a period of time, she lived with friends before eventually moving to the city of Neuquén.

In Neuquén, she built part of her life and working trajectory in a social context in which access to formal employment was limited for trans people. There, she began working as a sex worker, an occupation she pursued until the age of 33.

Her life was shaped by the conditions of vulnerability and discrimination experienced particularly by trans people of her generation, as well as by the need to build support networks outside the family in order to sustain her everyday life.

Daniela was murdered at the age of 33. The crime was never solved, and her killer was never identified. Her life trajectory forms part of the memories of trans people in Patagonia and of a generation whose lives were shaped by family, social, and economic exclusion, as well as by different forms of violence against trans identities.
